Consul General Tang Guocai Attends Dr.Kotnis Memorial Event

On January 9, Consul General Tang Guocai was invited to and event on the 10th Anniversary of the Dr. Kotnis Research Bureau. Ms.Srikanchana Yannam, Mayor of Solapur, Representatives from Dr. Kotnis's family, Mr.Rejendra Jadhav, Founder of Dr. Kotnis Memorial Committee and key members from all over India, Dr.Avijit Banerjee, Head of Chinese Academy of Visva Bharati University, Mr.Bhaskaran, Secretary General of India-China Friendship Association Karnataka Branch, and friends from local health-care, film, industry and commerce circles attended the event.

In his speech, Consul General Tang pointed out that Dr. Kotnis is a symbol of China-India friendship and cooperation. As important neighbors and the 2 largest developing countries, it is the general trend that China and India strengthen cooperation to jointly achieve national rejuvenation and lead the rise of Asia. In the new era, the two sides should vigorously carry forward the spirit of Dr.Kotnis and focus on strengthening cooperation in the following areas. Firstly, local governments should pay more visits, strengthen sister city relations, and strive to enhance the level of local cooperation; Secondly, both China and India have their own strengths in the medical field, especially in acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and modern medicine. There’s great potential to promote cooperation in these areas, which will better benefit the people of both countries; Thirdly, both sides should carry forward the good tradition of cultural exchanges and further strengthen exchanges in the fields of film and education to forge mutual understanding and friendship; Fourthly, given economic complementarity, the 2 countries should have more cooperation in infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture and service industries, to jointly create a better future for China-India relations.
